CAPTAIN & CHEF/STEWARDESS COUPLE WANTED
Apply before 30/Sep/2026

Long-Term World Cruising & Circumnavigation Program

CATALYST, a 2025 Fountaine Pajot Samana 59 sailing catamaran, is seeking an experienced Captain and Chef/Stewardess couple for a long-term, multi-year world cruising and eventual circumnavigation program.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced couple looking for a stable, hands-on position aboard a modern luxury sailing catamaran, with extensive offshore cruising, remote destinations and watersports at the heart of the program.

CATALYST is privately owned by an American couple in their 50s who spend most of the year living aboard and regularly welcome family and friends. The yacht is also offered for limited private charter, approximately 4–8 weeks per year, when the owners are not onboard.

The owner actively participates onboard during crossings and passages, with additional crew brought in when required. The cruising program will focus on offshore passagemaking, remote cruising and exploration, diving, kiting, foiling, spearfishing and other watersports. Candidates who genuinely enjoy an active and adventurous lifestyle are particularly encouraged to apply.

CATALYST has been extensively equipped and upgraded for remote cruising, comfort and onboard autonomy, including Starlink, a large lithium battery bank, high-output alternators, extensive solar capacity, multiple refrigeration and freezer systems, and numerous additional upgrades.

The successful couple must be experienced and comfortable operating and maintaining a 59' modern luxury sailing catamaran in remote cruising environments, while maintaining excellent standards of safety, maintenance, presentation and guest service.

The owners are personable, respectful and reasonable, with a strong focus on crew happiness, longevity and a sustainable work-life balance. However, this is a busy and hands-on position requiring a strong work ethic, professionalism, flexibility, excellent organization and attention to detail. The successful candidates must be able to work independently while also being comfortable living and working closely with the owners.

High-end charter experience is important. Due to the demanding nature of the cruising program, the position will likely be rotational, with reasonable work periods.

Crew accommodation consists of a private shared cabin with a queen berth and ensuite bathroom. Couples must have been together for a minimum of one year.

CAPTAIN

The ideal Captain will be a native English speaker, although candidates with excellent English skills will also be considered. A Yachtmaster Offshore or equivalent advanced qualification is required, along with extensive offshore experience and at least one ocean crossing as Captain.

Previous sailing catamaran and charter experience is required, together with strong engineering, mechanical, troubleshooting and general maintenance skills. The Captain must be a non-smoker and a moderate alcohol consumer. Professional references are required, along with current STCW and ENG1 prior to starting.

The Captain will work closely with the owner on itinerary planning, route planning and operational logistics. Responsibilities include the safe navigation and operation of the vessel, docking, anchoring and tender operations, as well as maintaining and troubleshooting the vessel's engines, generators, watermakers, plumbing, electrical systems and other onboard equipment.

The Captain will also be responsible for customs and immigration coordination, provisioning logistics, charter preparation and guest operations, as well as supporting the owners and guests with watersports and other onboard activities.

CHEF / STEWARDESS

The ideal Chef/Stewardess will have previous yacht chef and/or high-end charter experience, together with culinary training and/or strong practical cooking ability.

The successful candidate should be highly organized, self-motivated, capable of working independently and fluent in English. They must be a non-smoker and a moderate alcohol consumer. Professional references are required, along with current STCW and ENG1 prior to starting.

Responsibilities will include meal planning and preparation in consultation with the owners, provisioning and food management, interior management, housekeeping, laundry and inventory management. The Chef/Stewardess will also assist with guest and charter operations, docking and line handling, watch standing and general crew duties when required.

CRUISING PROGRAM

The planned itinerary is ambitious and subject to change depending on weather, vessel requirements, owner plans and cruising conditions.

For 2026, the program includes a September maintenance period in Grenada, followed by St. Vincent & the Grenadines, the ABCs and Colombia during October and November, and the San Blas Islands in Panama during December.

In 2027, the plan is to transit the Panama Canal and cruise Pacific Panama during January and February, followed by the Galápagos in March and French Polynesia from May through November, including the Marquesas, Tuamotus and Tahiti.

In 2028, the planned cruising areas include Fiji and New Zealand. Longer-term plans include Southeast Asia and eventually the Mediterranean.

TERMS & COMPENSATION

This is a long-term, multi-year opportunity with a competitive salary appropriate for highly experienced offshore crew. The expected start date is between October and December 2026. Basic health insurance, flights and repatriation are provided. The position is expected to operate on a rotational schedule with reasonable work periods.
